A few months back, Ryan and I decided to write a book of blue-collar work stories. Why? To raise money for a men’s mental health charity.
We feel that the working man’s mental state and ability to cope with reality are under siege daily. It doesn’t get enough focus, no one talks about it. It’s one of the biggest failures of our society.
As far as being able to handle emotional trauma, work stress, and all the other problems in life, men traditionally were expected to be:
Strong
Silent
Superman
We need to change the narrative. Obviously, this is unhealthy. It leads to terrible consequences. Families break down, and children suffer. Work performance suffers and jobs get lost. Friendships are impacted.
It leads to poor physical health, loss of relationships, and even worse. We all know a guy who has been through the wringer and is on the edge. Many of us have lost friends or loved ones to depression and suicide.
This is why we are supporting the Canadian Centre for Men and Families, and all of the proceeds from our book sales up to Father’s Day, 2022, will be donated to them.
From their website:
“CCMF Alberta is a place where men are treated with compassion and without prejudice or shaming. Our people meet men where they’re at so they feel heard, validated, and can have conversations that matter to them. We encourage men’s agency and offer them tools with which to build better relationships, better lives, and better futures. We offer somewhere to belong. We believe improving men’s mental health makes them better dads, better partners, safer workers, and more engaged contributing members of their communities.”

How Much Have You Raised So Far?
Here’s the breakdown:
$379 from Amazon sales including eBooks and paperbacks
$1165 from individual, in-person donations
That’s a great start! But as you can see, this is just a drop in the bucket. If you would like to help out, now is the time to step up and support our men’s mental health charity fundraiser.
A big thanks to all of these supporters: Gerri Baier, Kathy Ashcroft, Andy Greenwood, Cass Leach, Ed Wrobel, Andrew Burchill, Derald Stone, Spencer Martin, Carl Cote, Marlene Merriman, Garlen Unox, Andrew Beers, Al Spiess, Joe McDonald, Ken Langford, Corey McBain, Rob Starr, Michael Nixon, Kyle Waskul, Chad Allen, Murray Affleck
If we missed you on this list, we apologize! Rest assured, we appreciates you. We can’t see who you are if you helped by purchasing on Amazon, so a great way to make sure you are recognized is to Leave a Review!
But What’s In the Book?
I’m glad you asked!
We collected stories from all over, from guys we worked with and conversations overheard.
.All the names, locations, and business identities have been changed. Truth was optional during the writing process. So if you think you are in this book, you aren’t. Or are you?
Bursting with tons of hilarious tales inspired by the real-life misadventures of the average joe, Cautionary Tales is a wacky short story collection that’s packed with larger-than-life characters and situations almost too ridiculous to be true! Stupidly shameless, sometimes disgusting, and always side-splittingly funny, these tales raise awareness for men’s mental health as they leave you thinking “these can’t possibly be real”.
Where Can I get a Copy?
Another great question!
This button is a link magical to Amazon, where the book is on sale now.
Or… you could get one of us to mail you a copy. Send us a message and we will strap one to a super-fast snail, slap it on the butt and get it to you in no time!
What Else Could You Do to Help Our Mission?
Do you know what would be a huge help? Go to Amazon and leave us a book review.
We also need to get the word out, so share the news. Put it on Farcebook, TicTak, SnipSnap, or Instablam!
Another idea: Buy a copy for Father’s Day and send it to your dad. He would love to read it while he’s sitting on the john.
